Well not quite on my doorstep, but only a train stop away. I decided to take my camera down there this afternoon and see exactly how much we Sutthisan residents should be concerned.
The water seems well contained on the main road, and it doesn't look strong enough at the moment to make it much further into town, but that said, some of the small side roads have been completely submerged, as you can see.

This is really helpful to see as I am outside Bkk waiting for things to get better… and I live in Sutthisan so thanks alot for this! Where exactly has the water reached now on Ratchada Rd do you know? And are shops all cleaned out? I live in the block behind Sutthisan MRT and was hoping to return this weekend….

Hi. The pictures you see in the post are about 500 metres from Life Condo (going towards Lad Prao). if you know the Chopraya Park Hotel, the water starts there very shallow; then there is a 200 metre break, and then it gets pretty deep, about 25cm, on the main Ratchada road. However, many of the side roads are flooded, too, you can see the picture of the children on the bikes, that is a small soi completely submerged. The drains are spilling heavily.
in my opinion, the water will struggle to get further into Sutthisan because it would be diverted down the underpass first, although, it could start to pop up through the drains, which is hard to predict. People are being ferried on big trucks to and from work. Shops have no eggs or noodles, but Param 9 Tesco has meat, eggs, tuna and some vegetables – if you get there before the afternoon. Local food stalls in Sutthisan are all functioning, although sandbags are being stacked up.

Paul Garrigan, another Bangkok blogger, today posted a rather gripping account of his family’s escape from Minburi. Lulled into complacency by numerous false alarms and the water’s slow advance, the inundation of Paul’s home finally occurred with shocking suddenness.

Thanks for that link Three Wheeler. This is a really great blog, too. Will be checking it out regularly. False alarms have been non-stop here. 2 weeks ago we were told the area would be knee-deep, and yet nothing at all….yet. Should I be concerned? The high tides have come and come, and surely the worst is over? …hmmmmm

My office is in Sutthisan so obviouslythis is painful to see but from the wrong reasons.
Why not post a Picasa link or reduce image size?
After the 1st picture took ages to download I quickly turned my attention somewhere else…

Hi Sivan, Mu apologies. But the pictures are all very low resolution so I can only think it is your internet connection that is running very slow.
